Equal Opportunities & Diversity Staff Unit

Every person is unique.

At the University of Wuppertal, we value the individual and cultural differences of all university members.

We regard variation as an opportunity. Besides gender, we take migration, sexual orientation, age, and the socio-economic status into consideration, and thus actively encourage diversity. This means in particular to create working conditions encouraging the optimal development of each individual, including non-discriminatory entry conditions when starting the job, the monitoring of qualification processes and a corresponding analysis of the results of a diversity-friendly academic culture.

The Equal Opportunities and Diversity Unit considers itself as an interface between administration, university management and science. We coordinate and develop equality and diversity measures in teaching, research and continuing education at a central level. At the same time, we support the rectorate in establishing gender and diversity management as a guideline at all levels of actions and decision-making and on a long-term basis. We support and connect organisational units, researchers and employees and provide impetus for an active promotion of gender equality and equal opportunities.

We consider the university as a learning institution and set ourselves the goal, to detect all forms of discrimination and to develop suitable countermeasures. We would like to broaden the view for new perspectives, ideas, current issues, and comprehensive solutions.
